lyrics

This Decade’s Gone

This decade’s gone, and I got it wrong, I got it wrong.

There’s an old lady across from me, she’s got life in her eyes.
But those eighty-five years, have not been without tears, not been without a fight.
No-one gave me a book of rules, no-one wrote a script.
You make it up, you lap it up, time’s a constant itch.

This decade’s gone, and I got it wrong, I got it wrong.

Tell me about time, the film maker said, tell me about time.
Through those walls, poetry from a man, who was almost dead
A minute can last a lifetime, a year pass in a flash,
You blink and it’s gone, don’t know what went wrong, another year has passed.

Time’s everybody’s friend, it will never let you down,
So go with it, make piece with it, make peace with it.
